904l Stainless Steel Round Bar is an austenitic grade alloy. If compared to alloy grade 316l, the addition of molybdenum content in the alloy of Stainless Steel 904L Square Bar gives it superior resistance to localized assault such as pitting as well as crevice corrosion. In fact, the Stainless Steel 904L Bar proves to be a rather useful resource in terms of its resistance against chlorides while proving to offer additional resistance to reducing acids.

The alloy is especially noted for its additional copper content which in turn gives the SS UNS N08904 Bright Bar useful resistance to corrosion across all concentrations of sulphuric acid.
The excessive alloying content additionally offers it extra resistance to chloride pressure corrosion cracking, however, the 904l Stainless Steel Bar is nevertheless prone to be attacked by chlorine ions. The low carbon content in SS 904L Flat bar grants the alloy immunity to sensitization. This immunity is what aids the 904L SS Rod during operations like welding and which in turn can prevent the occurrence of intergranular corrosion.
