Austenitic grade Hastelloy C22 is a popular choice for applications involving industries such as Marine, Chemical processing, Waste disposal, Power, Pollution control as well as Paper processing. The Alloy C22 Square Bar proves to be highly remunerative to the chemical processing industry in particular. This is because, in chemical processing systems, the occurrence of upset conditions are fairly regular. An upset condition would mean both reducing and oxidizing conditions taking place in these process streams. These upset conditions could cause stress to the more conventionally used stainless steel or carbon steel grade, which is why the aforementioned grades are to be avoided in process streams.

However, unlike their austenitic stainless steel or carbon steel grade counterparts, the Hastelloy Alloy C22 Round Bar is not vulnerable to stress caused by these upset conditions. Moreover, the Hastelloy C22 Bar is resilient to corrosion caused by both oxidative and reductive mediums. When exposed to oxidative agents such as ferric acids or acetic anhydride or even in oxidizing aqueous media, the Hastelloy C22 round bar proves to be useful due to its corrosion resistance properties.
In fact, the corrosion resistance properties of the Alloy C22 Rod has been attributed to the addition of chromium to its alloy. On the other hand, the inclusion of molybdenum and tungsten content in the Alloy C22 Round Bar is what gives it good resistance to reducing media. The Hastelloy C22 Flat Bar has the ability to manifest excellent resistance to seawater and brine solutions as well.
