Meant for general corrosive applications, the Hastelloy B2 round bar is a component that is to conform to the prerequisite mechanical properties of specification ASTM B335 such as its tensile strength, yield strength and elongation, as well as Rockwell hardness in addition to its chemical composition requirements. While both Alloy B2 and Hastelloy B3 Rods illustrate good resistance to non-oxidizing acids such as sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid, there are minor differences between both these nickel based alloys. For instance, the thermal stability and the fabrication properties of Hastelloy B3 Round Bar tend to be much superior in comparison to Hastelloy B2 bars.

Furthermore, as opposed to Hastelloy B2, the Alloy B3 Rod tends to exhibit greater structural stability, which is a property that makes the metal less prone to defects during operations like fabrication and welding. The ASTM B335 Hastelloy B2 Round Bar shows exemplary resistance when exposed to reducing conditions that contain solutions like hydrogen chloride or acid solutions like sulfuric, acetic and phosphoric acids.
In applications where ductility is a property which is considered to be rather important, the Hastelloy B2 Flat Bar is not recommended to be used between a temperature range of 1000° F to about 1600° F. Moreover, due to lack of immunity towards the presence of ferric or cupric salts and to exposure towards oxidizing media the Hastelloy UNS N10665 Bright Bar must not be applied in these conditions as it would cause rapid corrosion.
