Although both alloy grades 200 and 201 are similar in terms of their chemistry and properties, Ni 201 Strip Tape is slightly different. Firstly, in comparison to alloy grade 200, the chemistry of the carbon content has been controlled to a max of 0.02%. This lowered content of carbon in the Nickel Alloy 201 Plate is what keeps the alloy from becoming embrittled by intergranular precipitates, especially when the alloy has been exposed to a temperature ranging between 600° F to 1400° F in many processes. That being said, it is noteworthy that both these alloy grades can be dual certified.

Typically, the Nickel 201 Plate can also be referred to as a commercially pure wrought alloy. The WNR 2.4068 Strip is resistant to not only acids and alkalis, but also dry gases at room temperature. In addition to this, the ASTM B162 UNS N02201 Sheet is also resistant to mineral acids, although this property is dependent on the temperature as well as the concentration of the solution.
According to the ASTM B162, the specified Alloy 201 Sheet must be uniform in quality and temper, while having a smooth appearance, commercially straight or flat, and it must also be free of injurious imperfections. Moreover, the material must conform to the chemical, mechanical as well as testing parameters of the specification. The testing parameters of Nickel 201 Alloy Coil as per the ASTM B162 specification include chemical analysis, mechanical test and the grain size test as well.
